Stop the Violence is part of a multi-layered approach to assisting women with disabilities under the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children. Funded by the Commonwealth Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) under the National Plan, the project will provide an evidence base to support future reform of the service system to better respond to the needs of women and their children.

"In Australia, women and girls with disabilities experience high levels of domestic/family violence
and sexual assault with high unmet needs accessing services
which target domestic violence, sexual assault
and related community services." - Project Plan, November 2012

Stop the Violence will investigate and promote ways to support better practice and improvements in service delivery and, responses of governments, in order to improve the quality of life for women and girls with disabilities who experience or are at risk of violence.

Stop the Violence will achieve this goal, by employing evidence-based research to facilitate good policy and practice in the provision of services across different sectors.

Stop the Violence outcomes will enable women and girls with disabilities to improve access to better services that respond appropriately and timely, for women and girls with disabilities.
